Asagipinar

Archaeological excavations have been carried out continuously since 1993 in the Ashagupanar region, south of the Kirklareli district center, and have found traces of the region's oldest agricultural societies, which brought agricultural and settlement experience from Anatolia to Thrace 8,200 years ago. The findings related to the first foundations of civilization on the European continent have been met with great interest by the scientific world. The settlement of Ashagupanar, after continuously existing for 2000 years, was abandoned about 6200 years ago. A study was also performed on Kanlı Geçit Mevkii.

Here is rediscovered a settlement from the time of Troy, which existed 4600 years ago. The identification of the settlement of Ashagupanar as a cornerstone of the process of formation of European civilization, and the assessment of the findings that excited the scientific world, affect, on the one hand, the socio-economic development of Kirklareli and, on the other hand, provide knowledge of urban planning. is one of the main goals of the project. In this context, work is underway to build a state-of-the-art research center in the village of Ahmetche.

From 1993 until today, in the months of July and August, excavations and work continue here to turn the ruins into an attractive tourist site near Kirklareli.
